Birthday Potpourri
You will need 3 cups of Pink and 3 cups of Red rose petals, a cups of miniature rosebuds, 2 cups lavender, 1 cup rose leaves, 2 tbsps of powdered orris root (fixative) and 15 drops of rose oil. All these materials can be purchased from your local florist.
Instructions-
Spread the petals and the buds and lavender on a large tray and leave them in a warm dry place, stir them a little everyday till they are completely dried. Once dry, place them in a glass bowl.
Add the powdered orris root and the rose oil to the dried materials and gently mix with your hands.
Place the mixture in a paper bag and seal it. Turn the bag over several times to distribute the fixative. Place it away from direct sunlight and allow it to season for 4-6 weeks.
When the potpourri is seasoned, place in open containers. Add rose oil and mix with your hands whenever you feel the fragrance diminishing.
Place the potpourri in cute Tibetian pouches and tie it up with a fancy ribbon before gifting it away. The receiver can place it in their wardrobe or anywhere a fragrant perfume is invited.
