Dublin is home to some of the most beautiful private gardens in the world. And thanks to The Dublin Garden Group one can now have an access to these gems of the horticultural world. The Dublin Garden group has taken it upon themselves to organize chaperoned tours through these beautiful Irish gardens, which never before have been open to the public. You can visit them at dublingardens.com to organize a trip for yourself but remember you have to be in a group of at least ten people. Lets take a look at some of the gardens that have finely been opened to the public-:
The Dillon Gardens-:
Helen Dillon is a world-renowned botanist, writer, lecturer and broadcaster. With her husband Val, she has created a garden that is considered to be one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, and trust me once you visit this wonderful place you’ll feel the same way. This widely acclaimed garden is a mix of startling design and perfectly grown plants - many of them rare and unusual, and oh, the flowers, the kind you may see everyday but how wonderful they look in the arrangements that Mrs. Dillon has them planted. A dominant feature in the garden is a canal set in Irish limestone, bordered on each side by superb borders - one mainly in red and the other in shades of dreamy blue.
Mount Usher Gardens-:
Where the Dillon Gardens are structured and organized, the Mount Usher Garden is rustic, made to look like a part of the lush Irish Hills. However don’t let that fool you, I don’t mean that it has overgrown weeds or grass, as well kept as any other garden in the world, yet it has that something that reminds you of the open hills where flowers spring out of their own choice. There are approximately 5000 different species of plants, shrubs and trees, originating from many parts of the world. The extensive collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and camellias is exceptionally colourful in spring. There are also those shrubs and trees, planted precisely for their display of berries and glorious foliage, to be admired in the autumn.
The other notable gardens which can now be visited are CarysfortLodge, Knockcree, CorkeLodge, Warble Bank, Graigueconna House, Primrose Hill and many more.
