Love is such a mighty urge at springtime of the year,
Flowing pond and bursting buds to tell us Easter's near.
Robins sing in every branch and lilies rise again.

In the Easter ceremony, flowers are regarded as the ‘weapons of the church against evil’. It is believed that one of the gifts bestowed by God upon Earth, particularly after Jesus’s death, were flowers so that we may have an idea of what await us in Heaven. Heaven is believed to be filled with wonderful flowers. While in the Church, flowers are to be found decorating the Altar and the Cross, at home they find their place in colorful Easter Flower baskets. The most popular flowers associated with Easter are Easter Lilies and Dogwood.
Easter Lily
Lilies have long been associated with Easter. It is believed that they were found growing in the garden of Gethsemane after Christ’s suffering. Also known as ‘apostles of hope’, it is believed that these delicate white flowers sprang up wherever drops of Christ’s sweat fell in the final hours of his agony. Christian churches decorate their altars and crosses with masses of beautiful Easter Lilies to reflect upon the Resurrection and hope for life everlasting. It is believed that Angel Gabriel extended a branch of Pure White lilies to Mother Mary when he announced that she was to be the Virgin mother of the Savior. In western tradition it is normal for people to exchange bunches of lilies along with the traditional Easter eggs.
Dogwood
It is believed that in the time of Jesus, Dogwood was a big and strong tree like Oak and Cedar. Its wood was used to make the cross upon which Jesus was crucified. God in despair of his son’s suffering decided that nevermore would the Dogwood be big and strong, instead it was banished to a small and crooked flower. God also made its blossoms in the symbol of the cross with marks for the nails in the hands and the feet and the crown of thorns. Since then each spring it has bloomed as the reminder of Christ’s suffering. But because of its delicacy and spectacular beauty, it also reminds us that Christ rose again and lives on forevermore. Therefore the Dogwood symbolizes that Jesus died for the sins of the world and rose again to give us an eternal life.
In Catholic countries, Easter is considered a very important holiday. So if you can’t be with your loved one’s on this special day, make sure you send Easter Flowers to them.
