Ensure that you purchase flowers that are in the bud form but beginning to show signs of blooming. Buying flowers with yellow or wilted leaves would be a bad idea. Another factor to consider would be the stem, if the stem is firm and upright, the flower will last longer but if it looks like its going to give away under the weight of the flower, do not purchase it.
