Ever since Renoir, Monet, and Van Gogh painted their impressions of a bowl full of fruits with open flowers tossed in, fruit flower arrangements have been the epitome of style and elegance. Fruit flower arrangements are very innovative and can be so much fun. All you need to do is place fruit on a platter or in a bowl, preferably keeping it color toned, for instance you could take green apples, grapes, and pears, they are all different shades of green. Add to that some green flower preferably a carnation which you can even pluck from your own garden. You don't even need to buy any new pieces to decorate your table with a fruit flower arrangement. Since flowers can be very expensive sometimes, fruit is a great alternative, it adds color to your table and what's more is that you can even eat it once the guests have left!
Though, you must keep a couple of things in mind, the purpose that the fruit serves here is purely ornamental, therefore you must ensure that all the fruit that you intend to put on display is very healthy and clean. For instance a green apple with yellow marks may be perfectly fine to eat but you cannot place it in your fruit flower arrangement as that will just end up making it look shabby.
Fruit Flower Centerpiece
Here's how you can create your very own fruit flower centerpiece in a matter of minutes.
Take a deep bowl such as a fish bowl and feel it to the brim with all kinds of fruits like apples, kiwis, pears so on and so forth.
Place fresh flowers such as mini sunflowers, daisies or rose petals along the side of the bowl so that they appear to have been stuck there. The fruit will push against the flowers and it will appear from the outside as though it is glued in.
Maple leaves, cherries and fern leaves would make a good filling in the space between the fruits. You could also place grapes in such a way so that it appears to be cascading down one side of the bowl.
Once the fruits and flowers are placed in the bowl, gently fill it with water. The result would be a fruit flower arrangement that will shimmer when reflected in candlelight.
Lastly take an apple, using a tea candle as a pattern score the top of the apple, carefully cut deeper till the length of the tea candle. Remove the fruit from the hole and rinse it with lemon juice so as to avoid browning. Place the tea candle in the hole and light just before your guests arrive. Repeat as many times as you like and place the apples around the fruit bowl so as to give it a shimmering look.
